My lucky day :-)

Yesterday was the best day this year so far!

I've been jobhunting since January, and I was about to reach my breaking point with boredom and the uncertaincy of my future.
Well, Monday I got a call from a place I had sent an application. I had to call back Tuesday as I was about to enter the cinema. Tuesday we had a small talk by phone, and I was asked to come for an interview Wednesday. The interview went really well, and I got a call the same day for a second interview Thursday. This was more a short recap of the interview the day before, and it was soon revealed, that I got the position!! Hooorayyy!
I start my new life as a hardworking Marketing Coordinator Monday, wish me luck! :-)

My luck had not run out with the job offer. Thursday evening the Fisk Redesign Competition took place and my team won!!
It was all in the name of recycling and charity, and in my team we had chosen to use men's wear for all three outfits.
We had a dress made out of a suit, a coat made of two jackets and a tie dress go down the runway. My sister, Vala, is working the suit-dress.
And what a success! The celebrity / fashion-wise judges had some really nice comments and the crowd cheered us on (led by my mom, my sister Laura, my BF and my friends Nana and Laura - thank you all!!)

Our minicollection is listed below. Behold! :-)

I'm an easy target...

... when it comes to all things cute, kitsch, artsy and somewhat Asian/Japanese, so when I saw the online shop Shana Logic I was sold on the spot!

I sometimes wonder why I love and cherish these childish things so much... maybe it is about time I grow up and get serious, start reading the news paper. But then again. As long as I can still function in the adult world, I will just consider it as part of my charm...

(BTW, I know I wasn't supposed to be back posting so soon, but I've been babysitting all day due to a strike in the Copenhagen kindergartens, and now I just need some me-me-me-time).

For now I'm just pseudoshopping - picking things I like and posting them, but you never know... some day in the distant future, when I win the lottery, I just might fill my virtual shopping cart...

Well I've piled up my favorites below:

Pinup bath towels for the holiday home. I already have a (rather kitschy, borderline ugly) tin can for tea and one for coffee with pinups on, plus a pillow my mom gave me. They give the summer house a nice retro feel. I love the bright colours and the very sensual yet innocent look.

Beautiful, beautiful prints. I am smitten with birds at the moment, I have no clue why. Bird brain? Bird flu? oh no!

The cutest scarves ever!! They won't keep me warm during the winter, though, except for my childish and cupcake craving heart :-)

Damnation! These pillows are cute as well! I loooove pandas! I got to see some bamboo eating ones in a Chinese zoo a few years back, and I almost climbed the fence. Big monochromatic teddybears, that could kill you with a single hug.

And the other pillow? Well, it is darling and I could use it as an excuse to tell you that I am now a red head :-) (I have actually been for a while, but I updated the colour yesterday and now it is bright and shiny).

Speaking of pandas: This hat is the best! Pandaliscious!

Random cuteness below. I am not wearing a lot of jewellery at the moment, but these tasty and cute pieces could change that.

I share a fondness of Japanese style cartoons with my sister Laura, and I've posted the rice ball in her honour. She has made the cutes cartoon cinnanmon rolls in minibeads (does that sentence make any sense at all?). Well, to you Laura! Cheers!

Wow! I know. This was one of my more hyper posts. But hey. It's late at night, I've been around kids all day (being the adult), and excessive cuteness makes me giggly and light headed. So. Be. It.

Until next time

See, I told you I'd be back soon, but as I cannot promise that I'll be posting before late next week, as I'm a busy bee sewing (and jobsearching still, my oh my!), I will leave you with some procratination material until then.
The cute birds below are from Nanibird, and they are free! Just download your favorites, print, fold and glue - fun, decorative and cheap!
I'm looking foreward to making my own soon (after the fashion show mentioned in my last post), and please tell me how it works out if you give it a go!

Fun fact: According to Boligliv (where I first spotted these birds) "nani" is Japanise for "what?".
Josh McKible is the creator of the Nanibirds, but many other artist have been invited to make their version, therefore there are a lot of different designs to choose from - the ones above are just my personal faves :-)

So we meet again

Hi guys! Wow has it really been that long? Bad blogger, baaad! (Insert slap over my hands here).
Well, I've actually been really busy in my spare time lately (and loving it!) doing some sewing for a charity fashion show next week.
It is the shop/café, called Fisk, where I'm a volunteer, that is behind the event and we are about 7 seven teams competing for the honour of winning. It is all about redesigning second hand clothes in collaboration with a mentoring designer.

My Belgian teammate, Lotte, and I have been really lucky. We got a Danish-Faroeic designer called Barbara I Gongini as our mentor and she is really sweet and full of great ideas for twisting our designs in a new direction. Her style is very sculptural and avantgarde, but she luckily knows how to transfer that into our more wearable approach to clothes. It has been interesting, and I cannot wait to see what the others teams have made. And, man, I hope we win! (just for the fun of winning as there is no real prize on stake).

I will post some pictures from the show next week, but for now it is a deep dark secret what we are working on :-)

So for those of you who will be in Copenhagen Thursday the 19th, the show is at Karrierebar from 18.00-24.00. (Tickets can be bought in Fisk).

See you sooner than you'd think!
