Random Etsy Cuteness

Just wanted to share some wednesday-cuties with you.

Take a look at the cutest Mary Janes ever at emandsprout on Etsy:

I like the kitty cat ones, but the chihuahua ones are really really nice as well.

And now that we are in the animal kingdom of cuteness, let's take a look at this polar bear playsuit from imyourpresent (also on Etsy):

These girls are really giving me a run for my money trying to figure out what will set me apart in the crafty world of Etsy once I get my shop up and running...

My lucky day :-)

Yesterday was the best day this year so far!

I've been jobhunting since January, and I was about to reach my breaking point with boredom and the uncertaincy of my future.
Well, Monday I got a call from a place I had sent an application. I had to call back Tuesday as I was about to enter the cinema. Tuesday we had a small talk by phone, and I was asked to come for an interview Wednesday. The interview went really well, and I got a call the same day for a second interview Thursday. This was more a short recap of the interview the day before, and it was soon revealed, that I got the position!! Hooorayyy!
I start my new life as a hardworking Marketing Coordinator Monday, wish me luck! :-)

My luck had not run out with the job offer. Thursday evening the Fisk Redesign Competition took place and my team won!!
It was all in the name of recycling and charity, and in my team we had chosen to use men's wear for all three outfits.
We had a dress made out of a suit, a coat made of two jackets and a tie dress go down the runway. My sister, Vala, is working the suit-dress.
And what a success! The celebrity / fashion-wise judges had some really nice comments and the crowd cheered us on (led by my mom, my sister Laura, my BF and my friends Nana and Laura - thank you all!!)

Our minicollection is listed below. Behold! :-)

Until next time

See, I told you I'd be back soon, but as I cannot promise that I'll be posting before late next week, as I'm a busy bee sewing (and jobsearching still, my oh my!), I will leave you with some procratination material until then.
The cute birds below are from Nanibird, and they are free! Just download your favorites, print, fold and glue - fun, decorative and cheap!
I'm looking foreward to making my own soon (after the fashion show mentioned in my last post), and please tell me how it works out if you give it a go!

Fun fact: According to Boligliv (where I first spotted these birds) "nani" is Japanise for "what?".
Josh McKible is the creator of the Nanibirds, but many other artist have been invited to make their version, therefore there are a lot of different designs to choose from - the ones above are just my personal faves :-)

A cup of light please

While waiting for the holiday home to be mine (well ours... I know, I know) I've been looking for inspiration on various design and decor blogs. There are hits and misses, but one of my new faves is decor8 where beautiful pictures go hand in hand with tips for online shopping, mostly vintage oriented.

I really like it when you see something and think "I could make that myself and it would still look great" (knowing deep down that I would never really get around to make it myself). Well, while looking through the decor8 back catalogue, I stumbled upon these surprising and beautiful tea cup lamps from domestic construction and yes I would certaintly love a cuppa :-)

All pictures found here

Just imagine these above a table full of cupcakes and good friends...
Maybe you could even use an old tea or coffee pot and make one bigger lamp (?). I only wonder how to make holes in the buttom. The rest should be easy breezy.

Well... if I ever get around to make some, you will hear about it here :-)

BTW!!! We get the keys for the holiday house tomorrow morning! And the redecoration begins!!! I promise I will post some before and after pictures when I have something to show.

Beads me...

I've shown my childish fondness of beads before on this blog and now I've taken it a step further...
My mom gave me and my sister, Laura, a bag of mini-mini-beads and a pegboard. The small beads require a lot of patience and well coordinated fingers, but I like the result a lot!

I've made small cosmopolitan drinks, pears and mushrooms and put them on earrings, quite cute if I may say so myself :)

FISK Re-design Fashionshow

This spring I've been teaming up with a bunch of creative and very sweet girls (you know who you are) once a week to re-design second hand clothes for a charity shop in Copenhagen called FISK (Fish in Danish). And all of our work resulted in a fashion show in May. It has been so much fun to be free to do whatever you wanted with the clothes, and here are my results (Thanks again to the models):

The lovely young lady posing here is my littlesister :-) Good job Vala!

I haven't made all of thesse clothes, but some of them are my "design" or re-design, that is...
The blue dotted top used to be a big square top and the jumpsuit was once a velvet dress. The nude sundress has a former life as a very matron-like dress, and I just fell in love with the small print of flowerpots on it.
(I cannot take credit for the capri pants, the vintage see-through jacket or the well crafted vest).

The blue dress is made out of a mens shirt and tie and the glitter vest was originally a very funky jacket, but someone had already removed the sleeves when I found it (the orange skirt is not my work).
I hope I can find time to meet up with the girls during the summer to get more fun clothes done. Once we're finished with the items, they go on sale in the shop to raise funds for various charity projects.

Feeling crafty?

I started my new job monday, and have had a lot of input jammed into my little head, and hence blogging has not been the first thing on my mind... sorry...

To relax in the evenings I have been playing with beads and pegboards - just like being a child again! I do not know if you people out there (yes, I'm addressing you my imaginary readers!) know about these pegboards, but the principle is that you make a pattern you like on the board with the plastic beads and then you iron it to make the beards melt together.
Here is a selection of the produce from my evenings of fun:

I like melting it a lot to make the pieces more solid, and then I use them as brooches with pins glued on the back...
