Random Etsy Cuteness

Just wanted to share some wednesday-cuties with you.

Take a look at the cutest Mary Janes ever at emandsprout on Etsy:

Click on picture to go to emandsprout

I like the kitty cat ones, but the chihuahua ones are really really nice as well.

And now that we are in the animal kingdom of cuteness, let's take a look at this polar bear playsuit from imyourpresent (also on Etsy):

These girls are really giving me a run for my money trying to figure out what will set me apart in the crafty world of Etsy once I get my shop up and running...

Georges Barbier

I've been looking for something to put on my bedroom wall, and heureka! I've found a new darling!
I googled my way to Art.com (seems like the obvious choice now), where I found what I was searching for:

Georges Barbier (1882-1932) a French illustrator with strong links to fashion and a master with a paint brush. (Check out his biography and body of work on Artophile)
It was hard to choose between all the beautiful illustrations, but I have listed my favorites below. I have been looking for something a bit dark, with some blue accents, to match a blue bed spread I bought on sale in December.

I just might go for this for its quirkyness and because it is about Midnight:

I remember seing the next one in a Vouge magazine I bought abroad some time ago (maybe it was Vouge Italia... can't remember). I like it a lot for details and also because I have dreamt of painting a similar tree on my bedroom wall for some years.

But it is really hard to choose... Maybe I should talk my BF into putting two pictures up... We have a spare wall in the entrance. If you can help me choosee - please do!

I'm an easy target...

... when it comes to all things cute, kitsch, artsy and somewhat Asian/Japanese, so when I saw the online shop Shana Logic I was sold on the spot!

I sometimes wonder why I love and cherish these childish things so much... maybe it is about time I grow up and get serious, start reading the news paper. But then again. As long as I can still function in the adult world, I will just consider it as part of my charm...

(BTW, I know I wasn't supposed to be back posting so soon, but I've been babysitting all day due to a strike in the Copenhagen kindergartens, and now I just need some me-me-me-time).

For now I'm just pseudoshopping - picking things I like and posting them, but you never know... some day in the distant future, when I win the lottery, I just might fill my virtual shopping cart...

Well I've piled up my favorites below:

Pinup bath towels for the holiday home. I already have a (rather kitschy, borderline ugly) tin can for tea and one for coffee with pinups on, plus a pillow my mom gave me. They give the summer house a nice retro feel. I love the bright colours and the very sensual yet innocent look.

Beautiful, beautiful prints. I am smitten with birds at the moment, I have no clue why. Bird brain? Bird flu? oh no!

The cutest scarves ever!! They won't keep me warm during the winter, though, except for my childish and cupcake craving heart :-)

Damnation! These pillows are cute as well! I loooove pandas! I got to see some bamboo eating ones in a Chinese zoo a few years back, and I almost climbed the fence. Big monochromatic teddybears, that could kill you with a single hug.

And the other pillow? Well, it is darling and I could use it as an excuse to tell you that I am now a red head :-) (I have actually been for a while, but I updated the colour yesterday and now it is bright and shiny).

Speaking of pandas: This hat is the best! Pandaliscious!

Random cuteness below. I am not wearing a lot of jewellery at the moment, but these tasty and cute pieces could change that.

I share a fondness of Japanese style cartoons with my sister Laura, and I've posted the rice ball in her honour. She has made the cutes cartoon cinnanmon rolls in minibeads (does that sentence make any sense at all?). Well, to you Laura! Cheers!

Wow! I know. This was one of my more hyper posts. But hey. It's late at night, I've been around kids all day (being the adult), and excessive cuteness makes me giggly and light headed. So. Be. It.

Until next time

See, I told you I'd be back soon, but as I cannot promise that I'll be posting before late next week, as I'm a busy bee sewing (and jobsearching still, my oh my!), I will leave you with some procratination material until then.
The cute birds below are from Nanibird, and they are free! Just download your favorites, print, fold and glue - fun, decorative and cheap!
I'm looking foreward to making my own soon (after the fashion show mentioned in my last post), and please tell me how it works out if you give it a go!

Fun fact: According to Boligliv (where I first spotted these birds) "nani" is Japanise for "what?".
Josh McKible is the creator of the Nanibirds, but many other artist have been invited to make their version, therefore there are a lot of different designs to choose from - the ones above are just my personal faves :-)

A cup of light please

While waiting for the holiday home to be mine (well ours... I know, I know) I've been looking for inspiration on various design and decor blogs. There are hits and misses, but one of my new faves is decor8 where beautiful pictures go hand in hand with tips for online shopping, mostly vintage oriented.

I really like it when you see something and think "I could make that myself and it would still look great" (knowing deep down that I would never really get around to make it myself). Well, while looking through the decor8 back catalogue, I stumbled upon these surprising and beautiful tea cup lamps from domestic construction and yes I would certaintly love a cuppa :-)

All pictures found here

Just imagine these above a table full of cupcakes and good friends...
Maybe you could even use an old tea or coffee pot and make one bigger lamp (?). I only wonder how to make holes in the buttom. The rest should be easy breezy.

Well... if I ever get around to make some, you will hear about it here :-)

BTW!!! We get the keys for the holiday house tomorrow morning! And the redecoration begins!!! I promise I will post some before and after pictures when I have something to show.

Luella che bella!!

I went over to Fifi Lapin's this morning to get the dose of bunny cuteness I missed out on while in Athens the last few days, and just WOW!
Apparently I missed out on the release of the pictures from Luella's S/S2010 collection as well (Okay, I got to see the Acropolis and various ruins and temples instead with my lovely boyfriend, but still...)

I've been in love with Luella for a long while now. I especially loved the Ghost World inspired Spring2008 collection, but the new stuff is darn cute as well!
I know, I'm won easily over by polka dots and bows, it's a weakness of mine. This collection, though, has both dots and bows paired with full skirts and heart shaped cut-outs. Not to mention the 60s silhouette and styling. Stop. Now. I'm overwhelmed!

See the whole collection and Luella's back catalogue at Style.com, where I snatched these pictures (Thank you style.com!).
Though this is a spring collection I hope I can transform the style to my fall wardrobe with some tights and cardigans. Maybe I'll make a copycat post on it some day...

I'm a sponge, a designsponge!

I've been crazy decorating our newly bought holiday home, well in my thoughts and my dreams that is, since we do not really own the house yet.

A constant source of inspiration and sleepless nights has been the blog Design*Sponge, where they have a unique sense of style, which goes well with my fondness of kitsch and flea markets. I especially like the sneak peeks into creative homes and the 'before and after' section.

Some time ago they made a post on Berkley Illustrations and their animal portraits (the link is for their etsy shop, and where I found the pictures below), and I'm a fan now! I actually tried to make a drawing of my cat in clothes a few weeks ago, but the Berkley people make me feel kinda inadequate:
